Instagram is reportedly working on a feature which will change the way you share pictures forever.

The Facebook-owned photo app is quietly developing a ‘regram’ button which lets you share pics with just one press, according to The Next Web.

Currently, people who want to republish images or video have to download them and then re-publish or use a third-party app.

But a Twitter-style regram button would allow this to be done much more quickly and easily.

The process is likely to be similar to retweeting on Twitter, which allows you to share a tweet with your followers.

The Next Web also claimed that Instagram is working on a system which lets you easily add gifs to stories or posts as well as a new way of sharing to WhatsApp.

It also suggested a new way of privately sharing posts with your ‘closest friends’ was in the offing, which will allow users to name their best mates and write posts which are for their eyes only.

People of a certain age may remember a similar feature on Myspace, which allowed you to place eight lucky people on your page and name them as your besties.

It’s not clear whether Instagram will actually release the new features or whether it’s just experimenting.

‘Instagram and Facebook tend to roll out new features for testing to small segments of the audience, not all at once – and some may never been seen again after these tests,” wrote journalist Matt Navarra.

‘As such, TNW makes no guarantee that any of these are coming to Instagram anytime soon. That said, we’re fairly confident at least a few of them will go live in the near future.’
