Amazing Thomas Cook hotel worker turned up to entertain guests after losing job

A defiant Thomas Cook entertainer decided to put a smile on my face and go into work despite learning her employer had just gone bust.
Megan Rouse, 22, who has been working in a hotel in Portugals Algarve, said the only way she could feel rewarded was by going to work to cheer up her downhearted Thomas Cook customers stranded in Portugal.
Megan, of Salford, Greater Manchester, said guests hugged her when she turned up at the reception desk of her hotel after news of the company falling into administration broke early on Monday.
Together, they went on to play French bowls and Megan arranged a quiz and disco. Megan said: I would have felt bad if I did not go into work.
At the end of the day, the guests have paid for their holiday. It is nothing to do with them and we have to respect that.

Megan told the Manchester Evening News: When I woke up this morning, reality did not hit me. I felt okay and just thought that I would go into work.
I work for the guests and I want them to have a good holiday – thats what is rewarding for me.

Megan is one of an estimated 21,000 employees who lost their jobs when the UKs Civil Aviation Authority said the tour operator had ceased trading with immediate effect.
An activities show entertainer who spent five months of the season in Majorca before moving to Portugal, she said: The first thing that I did was to speak to guests who were concerned. I just thought that seeing a friendly face would make them less concerned.
I had to act normal. Then we played French bowls.
This evening, we are going in as we have organised a quiz and a disco – so they can still have a party.
Megan had been selected to be part of a Thomas Cook flight team touring Lapland with guests at Christmas but the trip will no longer go ahead.
